HE
HOLY SPIRIT
- #10
Written
by Johanna Hobrath
Today
(07-24-2001), my Scripture reading is found in Luke,
Chapter 13.
I
have been a Christian for many years. Because the circumstances in life
do not always align with one’s dreams and wishes, I have come to realize,
for many years now, that my closest friend is “Friend Jesus.” Is He
your friend too? In valley situations I can take a hold of the Hand of
Jesus and be assured that “He will never leave me nor forsake me.”
(Hebrews
13:5) His Holy
Word tells me “I
called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large
place.” (Psalm 118:5) Jeremiah 33:3 tells me: “Call unto me, and I will
answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
We
can be grateful for the telephone companies. Society is very dependent
upon the telephone service. However, we may telephone God via prayer and
be assured that our Divine Creator (Jeremiah
33:3) hears our
petitions.
While
reading from Luke,
Chapter 13, I have come
to realize that Christ, while walking on earth, was a compassionate
Jesus. Jesus cared for His disciples and assured them that He will send
the “Comforter” after He ascended into Heaven (John
14:16; Revelation 1:7).
I PRAISE GOD FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT that “Comforts,” “Guides,” “Directs,”
“gives the daily WISDOM in circumstances that may be humanly impossible,”
etc.
Let
me pause a moment - Years ago, my *self-esteem was at a very low ebb.
My belief was: “I am not doing enough for God!” “I don’t
measure up to so and so.” "I am not as beautiful as . . .”
“How can God use me?” Etc., etc., etc.,
What
is *self-esteem”? The dictionary tells me that “self-esteem is
an overestimate for oneself.” As a Christian, I can have a “High
Self-Esteem that is centered in the Pride of Christ!”
The
Holy Spirit is not to be feared
- reverenced, “YES!”
What did Jesus say? He
will
send a “Comforter.”
The Holy Spirit can be a “Comforter” in any of your circumstances!!!
I
must conclude this article - otherwise it will become too lengthy. I
love the sentence in Luke
13:25 - “. . . BLESSED IS HE THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.”
Prayer:
“Thank you Jesus for the promise of the Holy Spirit, and Thank
You Heavenly Father for sending the Holy Spirit!” Amen!
