THE RETURN OF CHRIST . . .  Page #60

Written by Johanna Stang Hobrath, 9/13/2011, 9/19-22/2011

The Bible tells me, "You must believe that He (God) is, etc."  (Hebrews 11:6)  The title of this article is:  "THE RETURN OF CHRIST".  The age-old question of "When Will Jesus Return?" has been a question since Christ ascended back to heaven.  There are people that have set certain days and/or years and emphasized that Jesus would return during such a timeframe.  However, we are admonished in Scriptures that only God knows when Jesus will return.

Matthew 24:35-37 states:  "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.   But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.   But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

Today, September 13, 2011, I had spare time to devote to a few hours of leisure.  I turned to a TV station that featured a fast-paced movie with scenes of the world being overtaken by enormous tsunamis.

As the story continued to unfold, a huge ship carried a large populace of people; and, that group of people survived the oncoming tsunamis.  People with various ethnic background were included in this dramatic episode of a world that was devastated by the tsunamis.

As the story unfolded, the huge ship almost collided with Mt. Everest.  However, the disaster was averted, and the ship with the many people were able to start a new life in Africa.

While watching the above-mentioned movie, the story of Noah came to my mind.  It was Noah that was obedient to God and, therefore, he built an arc so that his family was saved from the flood.

It always amazes me what God did in Noah's time.  Just think . . .  it was God that closed the door to the arc and, then, the great flood came for forty days and forty nights.

Tragedies throughout the world do happen.  We are not guaranteed a trouble-free life.  We have, however, the Promises of God that "He will never leave us nor forsake us".  (Hebrews 13:5)

While viewing the movie "2012"on September 13, (2011), I was inspired to write a poem.  The poem was finalized on September 22, 2011 as follows:

~ IF I COULD LOOK INTO Eternity ~

If I could look into eternity

What scenes would I see?

We all want life to be pleasant

And never have to shed a tear.

I have walked the valleys

I have walked the mountaintop

And God permits rain and sunshine

That comes upon us all.

The question is "do you project into the future

And hope to walk in the beauty of His Light"?

The future, dear friend, is ever so real

And continues on the path to eternity's light.

The years have taught me

That there is a Heaven above

That is surrounded with beauty

And the atmosphere is ever so bright.

Jesus bought many tickets

On Calvary's Cross

So that I or you may enter Heaven

Without paying the cost.

The Bible gives glimpses of Heaven

Its streets are paved with pure gold

May I see you in Heaven

Where my final destination I will behold!

And there I shall walk with my Saviour

And the saints that are walking with Him

The journey on earth may be joyful

The journey on earth may bring tears

Some day when I see Jesus

He will wipe away my tears

And joy and peace shall be forever

And the future will never cease.
