Have
you ever given thought about the enormous responsibilities that people have
when they oversee the ruling of a company or a government? The Bible
specifically tells us:
"I
exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions,
and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are
in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness
and honesty." I Timothy 2:1,2
Understand,
I do not claim to be a super Christian -- ask my husband; however, my faith
in God has taught me to pray and read God's Holy Word.
As
a Christian, I also follow the happenings around the world. Much of
the news stirs compassion toward the people that have experienced and/or
live in disheartening circumstances. Perhaps my prayer is many times
directed toward the people with dire circumstances because I, too, when I
was a young girl, have experienced negative circumstances because of the war
years. And, yet, God miraculously spared my life during those
circumstances. I am forever grateful to know that there is a God
looking upon the hopelessness that may be caused by war, earthquakes,
floods, famine, and countless other devastating circumstances.
(Matthew Chapter 24)
People
should never forget that there is a God in Heaven that sees the poor and/or
the wealthy people. God sees the Presidents, the Kings, the Queens,
and the Nations of the world.
I
believe each human being has the responsibility to live graciously where God
has placed you. I may not be able to help all organizations that
provide needed assistance to the suffering; however, I can continue to live
a Godly life and pray for those that are less fortunate than I am.
Today's
news (August, 2001) speaks about the stem cell program. A few years
ago, the astounding news about cloning was placed into the public eye.
I
believe the President of the United States has a difficult job in
determining or not determining the outcome of programs that need the
approval by him and/or the Congress. Although I am not a politically
motivated person, ultimately the outcome of politics does affect the
world.
In
1998, I wrote a © Biblical Brochure, No. 01-02-13, that is entitled "HOW
DOES GOD VIEW CLONING?" This topic is certainly a profound
topic for discussion, and reads as follows:
"HOW
DOES GOD VIEW CLONING?"
Written
by Johanna Stang Hobrath
This
morning (January 9, 1998), I had the opportunity to view several news
stories via the television screen. One topic spoke about the
"cloning" issue.
What
is cloning? My dictionary does not give me an explanation, however,
most people know that "cloning" is a duplicated gene that results
in another look-alike animal. After much study and laboratory work,
the "dolly" sheep was successfully cloned.
(June
30, 1999: The recent news report stated that the escalated aging in
the "dolly" sheep is a concern in this astounding discovery.)
Technology
has come a long way when we compare the "Pioneer" days with the
"Modern" age.
My
Bible tells me that ".
. . I am fearfully and wonderfully made"
(Psalm, 139:14).
This
tells me that I was made via God's Design. Society needs to seriously
consider the moral aspect of the "cloning" issue. Having a
duplicate sheep is one issue, however, having a duplicate Johanna (with the
makeup of identical features concocted by a laboratory) is
unthinkable.
The
human cloning possibility should cause an outcry from the President in any
Country, to the outcry of the Citizens in any Country.
On
October 26, 1993, I wrote a letter to the editor of "THE PLAIN
DEALER" (Cleveland, Ohio). With the typed letter, an article was
also mailed to the newspaper company. The letter and article read as
follows:
Dear
Editor:
Today
I received a telephone call from an employee of your newspaper; namely,
"THE PLAIN DEALER." (Your employee asked me, "When was
the last time your newspaper was delivered to your home, etc.")
I
am a Christian writer. Not only is God's Holy Word my guideline to
daily living, my husband and I also read the newspaper and watch television
news.
Yesterday
I wrote a Postscript to "FROM JOHANNA'S DIARY - VOLUME EIGHT (OCTOBER
25, 1993)."
Mr.
Editor, enclosed please find a copy of the 10/25/93 Postscript.
"FROM
JOHANNA'S DIARY - VOLUME EIGHT"
(October
25, 1993)
Postscript:
The Bible tells us in Daniel
12:4 " ... many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be
increased."
Although
we see in today's society that knowledge has tremendously increased and
continues to be increased, every segment of society (such as:
religion, government, business, medical profession, etc.) is not only
answerable to its society, but, ultimately, is answerable to a higher
authority.
Prior
to an astounding accomplishment, questions should be raised whether a
presuming accomplishment will be morally correct.
Why
am I writing today's postscript? (October 25, 1993)
Yesterday's
newspaper carried an article about "cloning." This morning
(October 25, 1993), I saw a segment from a television program that shared
the possibility of human cloning.
Most,
certainly, such tampering with human life is a cause for "alarm"
and "danger." If such tampering continues, it would bring
about untold problems in a society. The moral issue must also be
confronted with a high degree of wisdom.
If
a society oversteps the boundary of natural, God-given production, then
problems of unprecedented proportion would follow.
Why
would the American society want to clone humans? Again, if such
actions are taken, untold problems would develop.
The
natural course of human propagation is God's Design. A Society ought
to be wise and reject the "cloning" idea.
Again,
God's Word tells me: "I
will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous
are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." (Psalm
139:14)

P.S.
This morning (08-11-2001) while directing my heart toward God in prayer, my
thoughts focused upon a few current events that pertain to the entire
world. "Cloning", "Stem Cell Project", and
"Abortion" are topics that may divide the opinions of any group of
people.
Although
those topics are of extreme "pros" and "cons", I ask
"What does God have to say about those subjects?" We must
remember that, ultimately, "Divine Providence" - our God in Heaven
sees mankind on earth.
(Matthew 5:45)
The "leadership" in any segment of society or the nation of
the world is always a most difficult job.
