ASTER WORSHIP TO GOD - #32

Written by Johanna Hobrath

On Easter morning 2002 (March 31, 2002), while standing in the sanctuary of a church, and while the congregation sang hymns of the Church and/or choruses in worship to the God of Heaven and/or to the Redeemer of all mankind, my heart was lifted up in praise to our Creator God.  I could not sing along because of the cold virus that I was carrying from the previous week.  However, my heart rejoiced and I thanked the Lord for his goodness, even though I had sore and oozing eyes within the last few days.  (My eyes are almost back to a normal status).   Sunday morning, while worshipping God from the heart, I realized that another web page for the Halo Ministries could read "EASTER WORSHIP TO GOD".

That Sunday afternoon, while reviewing a few of the previous written articles, I came upon an article that I believe is appropriate for this beautiful Easter Season.  Although the article "WHAT IS EASTER?" was written on April 24, 2000, its age-old message brings renewed rejoicing because the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, lives today in hearts and lives of people that will accept Him.

WHAT IS EASTER?

APRIL 24, 2000

Sunday, April 23, 2000, was a special day!  I sat in a church with many people.  The lovely group of singers in the choir loft was formed by men and women that were dressed in red and white garments and/or dark suits of clothing.  The cross in the center, located on the front wall of the sanctuary, had a gold and white cloth that was draped around the upper part of the cross.  In the main auditorium there was a display of two crosses -- one cross was placed on the left side, and the other cross was placed on the right side.

What was the significance of all the foregoing display?  Jesus is no longer on the cross; however, the symbol of the cross will forever be a reminder of the enormous sacrifice that the Redeemer and Saviour of mankind made for me and for you.

The tomb had kept my Master and Lord after He was taken off the cross of Calvary.  However, after three days, an angel had rolled the stone away.  (Luke 24:1-10)  Praise God that the Easter Season is a grateful tribute to Christ that no longer remained within the tomb!

Sunday, April 23, 2000, was a commemorative day for the entire world.  The focus was upon the risen Lord.  Also, the Easter focus was upon colorful Easter eggs, Easter bunnies, Easter candy, Easter dinner, etc.

What is Easter?

Easter reminds me and you of the Resurrection Power of Christ.  Easter also reminds me of the beauty of spring, and newness of the blossoming trees, the colorful spring flowers, the lawns and/or meadows that come alive with vibrant green color, and the birds singing their merry tunes.

What is Easter?

Easter reminds me that God provided for me a Heavenly Shepherd that will always be part of my life; and, it is Jesus that tells me, "Daughter, I love you dearly!"

May the Easter of nearly 2000 years ago, not only be a reminder of the risen Saviour, but be a reality that lives forever until we see the risen Christ face to face.  And, then, perhaps Jesus will say, "My Child, look at the nail prints--those scars are for you, and welcome Home!"

May you know that your scars in life are covered with the Precious Blood that was shed on Calvary's cross.

We may celebrate Easter at all times; and may the Eternal King, the Lord Jesus Christ, reign forever!

Psalm 93:1,2,4 and 5 tells us:

"The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty;  the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself:  the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.

"Thy throne is established of old:  thou art from everlasting.

"The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

"Thy testimonies are very sure:  holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever."
