Dear Reader,

Autumn is again a lovely season that is to be to be enjoyed in the year 2001.

In the month of October, we again see colorful foliage that makes for many picturesque scenes for any photographer.

The month of November brings thoughts of Thanksgiving gatherings, and the festive meals that will become memorable occasions for many families.

The month of December will bring the beautiful tribute of Christ’s Birth, thus reminding us of His Life while He lived on earth, and the Saving Grace that was accomplished on Calvary’s cross for me and for you.

Although our lives may be occupied with the surrounding of our everyday happenings, please take a moment to read the articles that focus on the secular and spiritual aspects.

On March 26, 2001, I had an opportunity to be a juror for a civil court case.  The following article makes reference to God and my experience as a juror.

SECRETS OF THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM

Written by Johanna S. Hobrath

What is a secret? A secret can be defined with many words via the English language. A secret, generally speaking, is an occurrence that one person tells to another person, thus requesting that the occurrence to be kept secret.

What is the “Heavenly Kingdom”? The Heavenly Kingdom may also be referred to “Heaven” where the Triune God dwells with the saints that no longer live on this earth.

What are the secrets of the Heavenly Kingdom? When Jesus walked this earth, He taught the disciples and other people about the Heavenly Kingdom. The Bible tells us about “The Hidden Treasure” (Matthew 13:44);Laborers in the Vineyard” (Matthew 20:1-18); “Marriage of the King’s Son” (Matthew 22:1-14); “The Parable of the Talents” Matthew 25:14-30; etc.

Jesus used everyday examples from daily living. I, or you, can also learn from our daily lives.  I experienced a “Spiritual Example” on a designated day in March of this year.

On March 26, 2001, I drove to a court house.  That morning, the blustery winter weather provided an awesome view of the snow-covered trees, the snow-covered roofs, the snow-covered lawns and, of course, much of the snow-covered streets.  However, I bravely traveled along and was en route to the court building.  That day provided an interesting insight to the court proceedings.  When the judge asked me a question, my reply was:  “God instituted authority.”  After that quoted phrase, the judge asked if the two attorneys had any more questions.  Because the attorneys did not have more questions for me, I became the ninth juror.  The other people, that were summoned for jury duty, were then dismissed.  I learned that day that you have 12 jurors for a criminal case, and 8 jurors plus an alternate juror for the civil case.

As I continued to listen to the attorneys and the witnesses, a “Heavenly Thought” came to my mind.

Do you know that some day I or you will enter another “Hall of Justice.”  That particular hall is called “Heaven.”  Now realize this—as a person that accepted Jesus into one’s heart, I or you are part-heir of Heaven (Galatians 4:1-7).  I need not be afraid of Judge Jesus; and, there will also be many proceedings in Heaven.  (Read I Corinthians 3:6-8)

Today, when you read this article, may I encourage you to accept Jesus as Saviour.  Jesus wants to be reconciled to you.  Some day, in the Heavenly Hall, Jesus will meet you as your Friend.  (If you are a Christian, then Praise the Lord; and, thank you, for reading this article.)

On March 26, 2001, I was not afraid to listen to the judge that presided over the court hearing.  I believe today, as I did then, that God instituted authority. And, some day, I will meet Jesus as a friend and not as a judge.

Remember—today is the day of salvation.  II Corinthians 6:2 tells us: “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I (helped) thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Is today the right time to be thinking about religion?  I believe today is the right time to be thinking about the Heavenly Kingdom and allow Jesus to become ruler of one’s heart!
