CHRISTMAS
2006!
Written
by Johanna Hobrath
Once
again, another Christmas is posted
onto calendars for the year 2006. For the homemaker this
brings about additional projects; such as, baking, cooking, cleaning
the home, purchasing presents, writing Christmas cards, and numerous
other chores.
When
I think about the upcoming Christmas 2006, I do rejoice that another
year of holiday festivities are placed on one’s calendar; and,
most of all, that we are able to celebrate the beautiful holiday
season of Christmas 2006.
Throughout
the year we may be grateful for the love from the Heavenly Father
that permitted Jesus Christ to come into the world some 2000 years
ago. The purpose of the birth of the Saviour has given us
access and glimpses into the Heavenly Kingdom. When Jesus
walked this earth He taught His disciples and other people about the
Kingdom of Heaven. It is through Jesus Christ that any one may
have access to some day live in the Glorious Realm of Heaven.
This coming Christmas, may we all be reminded that Jesus may dwell
in hearts and homes of people that accept him.
On
November 26, 2006, I viewed the magnificent 1961 film entitled "THE
KING OF KINGS." The
film was televised via the TBN television network. During one
event, a person was portraying Jesus and was sitting on a hill near
a tree. One of the disciples approached Jesus and said,
"Master, they are ready to hear your words." Today,
Jesus sits at the right Hand of the Heavenly Father and lives in
hearts and lives that will accept Him as Saviour. [I
John 2:1,2]
Why
did Jesus come to live among mankind? Jesus
said: "… I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it
more
abundantly." [John 10:10] The
Words of Jesus are powerful today; and His Words are recorded in the
Holy Scripture!
Some
time ago, I received a copy of a poem that was written by an
anonymous poet. The poem reads as follows:
"IF
JESUS CAME
TO
YOUR
HOUSE"
Written
by: Anonymous Poet
"If
Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two,
If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you’d do.
"Oh,
I know you’d give your nicest room to such an honored Guest,
And all the food you’d serve to Him would be the very best.
"And
you would keep assuring Him you’re glad to have Him there,
That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare!
"But
when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door,
With arms outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly Visitor?
"Or
would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in,
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they’d been?
"Would
you turn off the radio and hope He hadn’t heard -
And wish you hadn’t uttered that last, loud, nasty word?
"Would
you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
"And
I wonder - if the Saviour spent a day or two with you -
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
"Would
You keep right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
"Would
your family conversation keep up its usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?
"Would
you sing the songs you always sing and read the books you read,
And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?
"Would
you take Jesus with you everywhere you’d planned to go,
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?
"Would
you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends,
Or would you hope they’d stay away until His visit ends?
"Would
you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?
"It
might be interesting to know the things that you would do
If Jesus came in person to spend the holidays with you."

For
many years now, my zeal for the religious writing ministry has
