Prayer
is extremely important in my daily life.
On
a Sunday morning, in the month of July 2002, I walked into a church
bench. That morning I greeted Christa in that bench (name has been
changed). Toward the end of the morning service and while the altar
call was given, I leaned toward Christa and asked if she is a
believer. Also, I inquired about any prayer petition that she may
have. She told me about her brother Peter (name has been
changed). Peter is taking strong medication for the pain that he
experiences in his knees. Peter was told that if the condition does
not improve, he will need an amputation.
How
does anyone cope with such devastating news? We can thank God for
doctors; and, of course, when we sincerely petition God through Christ
Jesus, those prayers then reach the throne room of Heaven [Jeremiah
33:3].
There
is no doubt that each person has a void in one’s soul. I prefer to
fill the void of my soul with communion to a Holy God that sees and hears
the cry of people’s hearts.
Some
time ago, an article was written about prayer. The article was true at
the time of the writing and is true today. The article reads as
follows:
IS
PRAYER FOR HELPLESS PEOPLE ONLY?
(MAY
25, 2000)
It
has been quoted many times that "Life has its ups and downs."
If
you review your life today, can you sincerely say: "God has been
my Helper in sad times and in good times." Undoubtedly, during
one’s life, we can be grateful because of the many benefits that may be
received from many sources.
I
can truthfully state: "My living in America today is a definite
Miracle." During World War II, the Red Cross kept the records of
the addresses where I and my two brothers were residing for six months; and,
therefore, we were reunited with the family. My life has experienced
the ups and downs that arise from many circumstances. I may, however,
confidently state: There
is a God in Heaven - [Daniel 2:28].
Praying to God in Heaven was a comfort during the months when I was an
orphan. Praying to God is an unexplainable blessing during the times
of ups and downs. Praying to God helps me to hold on to the Hand of
Jesus.
Praying to God tells my heart that God says: "
... I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee"
[Hebrews 13:5].
Praying to God gives me assurance when my heart cries "Why?"
Praying to God brings a smile to my soul because I know that a Crown in
Heaven awaits me. Praying to God is also an expression of thanking Him
because He created the sun, the moon, and the stars. Praying to God is
a privilege because, as a Child of God, I know there is a Heavenly Father
that loves and cares for me in all my negative and positive circumstances.
Scripture
tells me, " ... The
effectual fervent prayer of
a righteous man [person]
availeth much"
[James 5:16]
My
Prayer Today ... God in Heaven, continue to bless America and the
World! In Jesus’ Name, Amen! [John
3:16]
