"THE
GOD
OF
THE
BIBLE"

What
comes to your mind when you think about "The God of the Bible"? You may say that
"the God of the Bible is the God
of Heaven above!" Recently,
a discussion centered around the fact that God is a God of
"Love", "Mercy", and "Grace".
However, on May 30 (2007) I read from the Old Testament of the Holy
Scripture. Deuteronomy,
Chapter 28 deals
with the blessings when serving the God of Heaven and, also, the
consequences when disobedience comes into the picture. The
Old Testament of the Bible is given to all people groups and shares about the
future appearance of the
News Testament
Jesus - example:
Isaiah 9:6.
Indeed,
God is a "God of Love". Over the many years, God
has proven to give to me the faith that I
need during my day-to-day journey; also, "His Sustaining Love"
has continued to help my traveling toward Heaven.
During
the months of May, June, etc. "Love" is in the air -- so to speak.
During the Memorial weekend (2007), my husband and I had the privilege to
attend a beautiful church wedding and reception. Nearly 200 people were
invited to the lovely wedding ceremony and the reception that followed
the church wedding. Undoubtedly, a new pattern
of living will commence for the lovely couple. It is, of course,
absolutely essential to realize that Christ does help with the good or
negative circumstances that any person may be facing in the days, weeks,
months, and/or years ahead.
The
Bible speaks about "Love"; and,
I
Corinthians, Chapter
13 [KJV], so
beautifully tells us . . .
LOVE
suffereth long.
LOVE is kind.
LOVE envieth not.
LOVE vaunteth not
itself.
LOVE is not puffed up.
LOVE doth not behave itself unseemly.
LOVE seeketh not her own.
LOVE is not easily provoked.
LOVE thinketh no
evil.
LOVE rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.
LOVE
beareth all things.
LOVE hopeth all things.
LOVE endureth all things.
LOVE never faileth.
Now abideth faith, hope, love, these three, but the
greatest of these is LOVE.
Christ
Jesus is our best example to follow. If you or I fail and do not love
those that are unlovely toward you or I, then have hope and realize that Jesus
is at the Right Hand of the Heavenly Father and intercedes for us and helps us to forgive. [I John 1:7,9; 2:1-3]
May
you have beautiful days ahead, and enjoy the flourishing branches of the
newly sprouted leaves on the trees and the prolific variety of colors
that can be seen adorning the gardens of homes and/or meadows of the
countryside or near the babbling brooks, rivers, or lakes. God has
created beauty in this world. [Genesis, Chapter One]
June
16, 2007 - Addition to the June 2007 Newsletter . . .
During
the past decades, my husband and I have had the
privilege to attend many wedding ceremonies. Today [6-16-2007] was
another very special day for a young couple. The proud parents of the
bride and groom, as well as other family members and friends,
had the honor to attend the wonderful church wedding ceremony.
During the church ceremony there was a special moment whereby the Pastor
made the following statement that I had never heard in wedding
ceremonies. The statement, in essence, was:
"May
the parents of the bride and groom please stand. (The Pastor
continued speaking.) Do the parents of the bride and groom
promise to support this marriage? Etc."
[Johanna's
Comment] I believe the above comment by the Pastor is of
extreme importance. Marriages, at times, are made much more
difficult to survive if either side of the parents try to meddle with
the marriage of a son and/or daughter. I
Corinthians, Chapter 13 applies to everyone!
