"HUMILITY"
Written

What
does the dictionary tell us about the word "Humility"?
My dictionary defines "humility" as "the state or quality
of being humble". When a person reviews the characteristics
of other people, you will find that people have many qualities that
define their characteristics. You and/or I are born with certain
characteristics.
When
parents compare two children, they will soon discover the
characteristics of each child. During this past Christmas Season
(2010), my immediate family and I had a delightful visit with a young
couple and their children in our home. During an afternoon, we saw
their newborn baby boy. The baby boy was absolutely adorable and
very much at ease as he rested in his father’s arms. I held the
child for a few moments, and soon the little boy started to become
restless. I was surprised to see that the young baby boy soon
realized that someone else was holding him.
As
Christians mature, our characteristics will also come to the
forefront. When maturing in Christ, the depth of one’s devotion
to God may take on a totally different aspect in one’s living.
We all have our opinions and are influenced by the people around
us. Furthermore, the daily news will either affect a "no-care
attitude" and/or stir up other emotions; therefore, people will
express concerns of what they see or hear.
Everyday
life affects all of us. I, personally, take time for quiet time
while writing, reading the Bible, and/or dwelling in the presence of
God.
What
does Scripture tell us about "humility"? Scripture talks
about our hearts not to be "stone-like" but to have compassion
one to another
(Ephesians 4:32).
Ezekiel
11:19 and 20 states: "And I will give them one heart, and I
will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of
their flesh and will give them an heart of flesh: “That they may walk
in my statues, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be
my people, and I will be their God."
Johanna’s
Comment: Being humble indicates sometimes to accept what other
people may say. And, yet, God gives discernment and wisdom in
areas when such discernment and/or wisdom is needed. Am I
perfect yet? Of course not; however, following the teachings
of Scripture and, most of all, being guided by His Holy Word is a
good recommendation to follow.
On
January 7, 2010 Joyce Meyer, while speaking from the TV Program, made
reference to Acts
24:16 that reads as
follows: "And
herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence
toward God, and toward men."
Jesus
is a perfect example of having humility while walking on this earth.
For
me, practicing "humility" in 2011 will indicate that I am
following the footsteps of Christ Jesus. However, when Jesus
walked this earth, He did emphasize situations that needed to be lived
correctly and He told the people: "It
is written, My house is the house of prayer:" (Luke 19:46)
For
the February 2011 Halo Ministries’ Newsletter, I am quoting the Daily
Scripture Verse (01/07/2011) that appeared on the index page of the Halo
Ministries’ Website as follows:
Today's
Verse: (Friday, January 7, 2011)
Let it be the
hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of
great price.

Peter 3:4 / KJV

The
internet is certainly an astounding tool. At the same time, much
caution must be exercised when we make the choice of what is
viewed. The television availability is also an astounding
tool. Reading good books and informative material is valuable for
the expansion of knowledge. However, wisdom has to be applied so
that the ears and eyes hear and view what is beneficial to one’s
knowledge. In January (2011) I read an extremely important article
that is entitled "Is Civil Government a Biblical Concept?"
The web page may be accesses via . . . (http://americanvision.org/3658/is-civil-government-a-biblical-concept/).
The
article "Is Civil Government a Biblical Concept?" is
written by Gary DeMar and was published on October 26, 2010. The
article makes the following statement: "A brief survey of the
Bible and its principles will show that it has directives for all areas
of life.

There
are people that do not believe in a God. However, the here-after
(eternity) will reveal that there are two places that you and/or I may
enter after we leave this earth . . . "MAY THE GLORIOUS ETERNITY
AWAIT YOU ALSO." JSH
Previously,
reference was made to the Biblical concept in civil government. It
was in November of 2001, when I received a profound email message that
made reference to God. Please take time to read this profound
description of our "Great God". This powerful
description may be accessed via http://www.haloministries.net/WhatIsGod.htm.
