SPIRITUALITY
IN DAILY
LIVING
Written
by Johanna Hobrath
(January
5, 2004) The title of this article makes a profound reference to
living a life that is pleasing to God; and, yet, many people will
classify “Spirituality” as follows:
...
I am a good person ... that is being spiritual!
... I take care of my family ... that is being spiritual!
... I read God’s Word ... that is being spiritual!
... I pray daily ... that is being spiritual!
... I attend church services regularly ... that is being spiritual!
... I share my monetary substance ... that is being spiritual!
The
above list could go on and on.
Most
of us are discerning when it comes to an individual character.
However, my ego is deflated when I read ... “There
is none righteous, no not one.” (Romans 3:10)
I
believe - and other people believe also - that to live a righteous
life is acceptable unto God. True righteousness is a “right
standing in the sight of God!” How is that righteousness
accepted by God? Scripture tells me “Except
a man
(person) be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven.”

This
article is also referring to February 2004. The month of February
speaks about the yearly Valentines' Day.
For
the upcoming Valentines' Day,
may
I send to you a bouquet of roses that reminds all of us that Christ
loves mankind. God does not want anyone to perish ... II
Peter 3:9. (The
bouquet of roses in the picture are real roses that I received from
my husband in October 2003.) Spiritually
speaking ... When Christ is accepted into one’s life, the
consecrated life may be lived through the Power of His Spirit! (I
Corinthians 1:18)
It
should not matter that the next person is more spiritual. My
heart says, “God, help me to live today in such a way that I may
be pleasing to you!” Wanting to live a life (that is
pleasing to God) will, at times, be a sacrifice. The sacrifice
is taking time to read God’s Word and being in prayer about one’s
self and/or other people.
(January
19, 2004) The month of February commemorates giving a token of
appreciation and/or love to those that you care about. May the
month of
February also remind us that the greatest love that God gave to
mankind a couple centuries ago; namely, the birth of God’s Son,
Jesus Christ. Jesus wants each person to accept His Atoning
Love that was proven on the Cross of Calvary. I am not
deserving, via my own merits, to some day enter Heaven; however,
Christ’s Redeeming Love that was proven from the Cross of Calvary
gives me the right to be a part-heir of the glorious Heaven that
awaits all believers that accepted Jesus into their hearts and
lives.
