DO
NOT
UNDERESTIMATE
THE
POWER
OF
GOD!

It
was on Sunday, December 27, 2009, when I was driving home from attending a
worship service at the church where I worship. As I
was driving home, the thought “DO NOT
UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF GOD”
came to my mind. With a thankful heart I continued to drive home and was
grateful to God that I had such a wonderful Christmas holiday; and, that
God so graciously answered prayers during that time.
I
believe every person, when taking time to ponder about the goodness of
the Lord, may be able to share about the positive outcome in their life.
And, therefore, this article was published because it shares about “a positive outcome”
during the Christmas holiday.
On
December 20th, 2009, my out-of-state son and daughter-in-law arrived in
my home. What a lovely time we had during the 2009 Christmas Season !
Christmas Eve was spent in our home with my other son’s
family, and his father- and mother-in-law. On Christmas Eve we sat around a
lovely table and had an enjoyable dinner around 4:00 p.m. Prior to 6:00
p.m., we drove to Hope Church where a lovely Christmas Eve service took
place. A few of the Christmas songs evoke emotions of thankfulness
because our Saviour, Jesus Christ, came to this earth “to seek and to
save those that were lost” (Luke 19:10).
One
of the Christmas songs, that brings a joyful emotion to my heart, reads
as follows:
~
O HOLY
NIGHT
~
O
holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of Our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world In sin and error pining,
'Til He appear'd And the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope The weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall
on your knees! O, hear the angels' voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine.

The
Christmas Eve service concluded with the beautiful song entitled “Silent
Night, Holy
Night”.
During the holy season of Christmas, hearts can be
grateful that a Saviour was born many years ago in the town of
Bethlehem. Our Precious Lord had left the Splendor of Glory; and, He was
born in a lowly stable to die on a cruel cross on Calvary’s tree.
May
I never take for granted the great sacrifice that Jesus did for me and
for you.
After
the Christmas Eve service, my husband and I, my out-of-state son and
daughter-in-law chose to bring gifts to my youngest son’s home. The
evening was lovely, and opening gifts is a joy for the gift giver
and gift receiver.
The
night weather was very cold as we stepped out of the house and entered
our respective cars. One car, however, could not be started.
It was
concluded that a car repair shop be contacted the day after Christmas.
Here it was, Christmas Eve 2009, and we questioned: “will there
be a shop open after Christmas Day?”; and, if the shop is open, “will
they have to order a part for the car?”. Also, Monday was only
three days away; and, both my son and daughter-in-law needed to return to their
jobs on Monday. Needless to say, the festivity of Christmas
was somewhat clouded by the dilemma of a vehicle that was not working.
That
evening, December 24, 2009, we returned home and decided to watch a
hilarious movie entitled “Home Alone”, and the stalled car remained
in the driveway of my other son’s home.
Saturday
morning, December 26, 2009, an early call was made to a car repair shop.
The Conrad repair shop happened to be open on Saturday, the day after
Christmas! Another call was made to a car-towing company, and the stalled
car was towed to the Conrad shop. That morning, we enjoyed a breakfast
at home. Also, that morning it was decided to drive to the lovely Kohl
store were a few good purchases were made. During the shopping time at
the Kohl store, my son received a phone call. My son was told of
the good news that the car was ready to be picked up. The starter on the car had to be replaced, and
we were all relieved and grateful that this car dilemma was resolved.
Do
you believe in coincidences? Of course, God has given each individual
choices to be made. During the late evening of Christmas
Eve, December 24, I sensed that the car situation was not “just a
minor dilemma” because questions came into view. The
questions were: “What
if a new car part had to be ordered? How long will that take?
How will
they return home?” Of course, all those questions may be resolved by
facing problems with other options.
During
the late evening of Christmas Eve, after viewing the Christmas movie, I
requested if prayer could be said for the car dilemma. Fervently and “in
faith believing” the three of us prayed “where two or three are
gathered together, there in the midst is Jesus” (Matthew 18:19).
DEAR
READER: YES, I BELIEVE IN PRAYER. I ALSO BELIEVE IN WISDOM THAT GOD
GIVES TO US. HOWEVER, THE ABOVE SCENARIO IS VERY MUCH A REMINDER THAT
GOD CAN AND OFTEN WILL ANSWER PRAYERS QUICKLY. MAY GOD FIND US BRINGING
PRAISES, THANKSGIVING, AND/OR PETITIONS FROM OUR HEARTS TO HIS LOVING HEART IN THE YEAR
2010!
P.S.
On Sunday evening, December 27, 2009, I telephoned my out-of-state son
in the hope that he and his wife may be reached at home. My son answered
the telephone and said: “we just got home about two minutes ago.”
PSALM
86:12 TELLS US: “I WILL PRAISE THEE, O LORD MY GOD, WITH ALL MY HEART:
AND I WILL GLORIFY THY NAME FOR EVERMORE.”
