Perhaps you have heard hundreds of sermons about Christ and the Cross; and, yet, may my heart always acknowledge that I desire to walk hand in hand with my Saviour. What a privilege to walk with my Saviour via the Path of Righteousness!
People, myself included, do have tender moments when we permit the Spirit of the Lord to touch the core of our hearts. Today (February 7, 2002) is such a moment for me. Although the Saviour of Calvary brought Salvation to mankind, some day I shall behold Him in all of His Glory. The Saviour's Nail-Scarred Hands will be a reminder that Jesus died for me.
If you believe that the foregoing paragraphs are too emotional, may I remind you that, as a *Pilgrim of this global earth, I, too, carry scars. (*Hebrews 11:13) The scars are not on my hands, but upon the memories of the heart. The Holy Spirit, the wonderful Counselor and Comforter, reminds me in Matthew 6:14 and 15 . . .
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
"But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
This article gives only a glimpse of what Christ has done on the Cross of Calvary.
Dear Reader: Do memories bring untold pain to your heart? The first step is to bring the pain to the foot of the cross. Why? Carrying the pain of your heart may bring more pain. Remember - Christ is the burden carrier. His Word tells us in Matthew 11:30 . . . "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Memories are precious. Fond memories are treasured. Do you have painful memories? Bring them to Jesus. Why? He is alive and intercedes for the believer at the Right Hand of the Father. (Mark 16:19; I John 2:1) Some day, in Heaven, I want to kneel at the feet of Jesus, take His Hand, and in adoration and thankfulness kiss His Nail-Scarred Hand!
I look forward to the memories that teach me more about His Saving Love!
