"WHO
WINS?"
Written
by Johanna Hobrath
This
morning, October 21, 2006, a husband and wife were sitting in an indoor soccer
field where two soccer teams were competing to win. The red and the white
teams
played vigorously to win the soccer game. The soccer ball was kicked
back and forth, the players were running after the ball and trying very hard to
take a hold of the soccer ball and, then, running toward the goal of the
opponent via their expert maneuvering of the ball. The game was exciting
and the anticipation of winning was high. (* To read the outcome of
the soccer score, see the bottom of this article.]
While
sitting in the bleacher and viewing this exciting soccer game, the following
thought came to me …
Dear
Reader: You and I are in the game of life. Some of us travel many
years through life; and some of us travel for a short time through life.
It does matter how we travel; or, so to speak, how we live our lives. I
believe, for the most part, we all want to live a good life; preferably free
from problems and heartaches. However, our wishes do not always come into
fulfillment. The weather brings rain and/or sunshine. [Matthew
5:45] And
life, in general, also brings good days and days that are not pleasing to us.
Ultimately, it will matter how we have lived our lives on earth. Perhaps
some people shy away from the thought "There is a hereafter."
God does want the best for His people; however, at the same time, we must not
forget about God that does have love and concern for His people.
If
I may be somewhat dramatic, I hope that you and I can be on the winning
team--speaking from a spiritual perspective. The enemy of our soul does
not want us to win; therefore, on a daily basis there are situations that come
our way that do not seem to our liking. However, we may have faith and
hope in a God that loves us through Jesus Christ the Lord. Jesus paved the
road to heaven, even though the enemy of our soul wants to distract us from the
fact that God loves us deeply.
I
cannot visualize a life without knowing Jesus that died for me and all mankind.
When reading the web pages of the Halo Ministries, much of my life reveals some
of the happenings that were not to my liking; however, I continue to trust God
that desires to continue to love me as His child.
In
the beginning of this article, I share about a soccer team. As a
Christian, spiritually speaking, I know who wins the game. The
Book of Revelation gives us the outcome of the winning side. You see, some
day millions of people, myself included, will walk the streets of gold that is
prepared for those that believe in the true Messiah that was willing to die on
Calvary [Jesus rose victoriously] so that I and others may have access to the
Glorious Home that is called “Heaven”.
Several
weeks ago, I wrote a beautiful poem entitled, "LORD, YOU ARE
NEAR!" The poem reads as follows …
