[In
the year 2001, the article entitled "MIRACLES
FROM LIFE'S JOURNEY" was

article shares miracles that this writer experienced from Slovakia (World
War II) to America. To access the article, click

cont'd.] The house numbers were
checked by the four-persons group [I, my husband, brother- and
sister-in-law]. We then decided to see if the house toward the back of
a nice house
would
be the correct number. And, sure enough, we
located the house number that my brother had told me on the telephone.
First, I was surprised to see the same house number that was still in
existence from the time when I, my parents, and siblings occupied that
dwelling. The house was one of the tallest dwellings.
The
picture to the left side of the above paragraph also shows the creek.
The creek, as I remember, used to have water running through the town.
The photo to the right of the above paragraph was photographed by my
husband. It was, indeed, an awesome emotional experience to have seen
the house where I used to live as a very young child.
When
I saw the garden with fruit trees in front of the Stang house, my thoughts
dwelled on my mother. My mother passed away in 1999. I remember
my mother telling me of a time, in the fall, during World War II, that she
went to the garden to harvest plums from a tree. At that time the
enemy was in the surrounding mountains; and someone was shooting at my
mother. She then quickly climbed down the tree and went into the
house.
I
had no idea that the house in Janova Lehota was still standing. The
town itself has a few homes that are renovated; however, the general
appearance of the homes have the need to be upgraded. The town, most
likely, has poor people as well as the middle-class people. I am
grateful to be living in the United States of America.
On
that day (09-07-04), in Janova Lehota, my brother-in-law inquired about the
priest that could open the church door for us. I do not speak
Slovakian; however, my brother-in-law, because he speaks the Polish
language, was able to converse somewhat with the people that we met.
It
was then decided that we would leave Janova Lehota. My instincts were
telling me that we once again drive to the higher part of the Janova Lehota
town; and, lo and behold, we saw a priest, in priestly garb, walking along
the narrow road. While my brother-in-law conversed with the priest, my
brother-in-law understood that the priest would come to the church and open
the church door for us.
We
drove back to the only church in Janova Lehota; and after the priest opened
the church door for us, we were then able to enter the church. The
inside of the church is beautiful! Also the church had been renovated
and kept very clean and neat. Several photographs were then taken
inside the church.
