[In
the year 2001, the article entitled "MIRACLES
FROM LIFE'S JOURNEY" was
written. The
article shares miracles that this writer experienced from Slovakia (World
War II) to America. To access the article, click http://www.haloministries.net/AChriostianDiary/AChristianDiary/AChristianDiaryPg12.htm.

[09/07/04;
October 2004] This particular
journey to Europe was, indeed, a journey of a lifetime. The
long-awaited trip to the hometown, where I was born, was to be an adventure
for me. What will I expect to see? What impression will I have
of the place where I was born?
The
journey by car gave us an opportunity to enjoy the continuing views of
mountains and valleys. We saw cities that seemed to have growth in
population and industry. We also saw, in Slovakia, places that seemed
to have the need for restoration of the homes and/or the city. The
countryside, however, was absolutely lovely. We saw many homes that
nestled along the mountain slopes.
After
several hours of driving in the car, we finally turned into a small side
road; and,
indeed we saw a shield with the name of "Janova Lehota." The
car came to a still stand, and I and my husband walked out of the car.
My husband then took a picture of me standing near the
shield that stated
"Janova Lehota."
While
driving further on a narrow road, we entered the town of Janova Lehota.
What was my impression? I was somewhat amazed to realize that
this is the town where I was born. During World War II, my parents
were told that all the children six years and older were to flee to another
part of the country. And so it was, we fled to Sudetenland.
Today,
as I review my life, I believe with all my heart that it is a miracle that I
am living in the United States of America. When I was a young girl, I
met my husband in the States. We made a comfortable living and have
two sons. Had I remained in Janova Lehota, what would my life have
been?
The
four-person group [my husband and I, brother-in-law and
sister-in-law] then drove to the center of Janova Lehota. I remembered
that there is a church that my parents and I, as well as my siblings, used
to attend. My husband took a picture of me while standing in the
center of the town. The church (built in the 1400's) has
been
renovated. The picture to the left is my husband
and I
standing in the entrance of the Catholic church. I also remembered
that you had to cross a bridge in order to get to the church. While
viewing the town of Janova Lehota, I soon discovered that there were many
small bridges throughout the town.
The
four-persons group wanted to enter the church, but we realized that the
church was closed; therefore, we decided to locate the house where I
was born.
Prior
to the European trip, I telephoned my now oldest brother. (The
first oldest brother already passed away). I was given the house
number, and we soon were searching for a particular house number.
