THE
MYSTERY
OF DISCERNMENT
Written
by Johanna Hobrath
[June
11, 2004] My dictionary defines the word "mystery" as "an
affair or thing that arouses curiosity or suspense." The word
"discernment" is "keenness of judgment, might."
The
foregoing paragraph gives explanation from the dictionary for the title
"THE MYSTERY OF DISCERNMENT."
How
do subjects for any article come into existence?
First,
permit me to be honest and allow me to confess the recent slackness in my
daily devotional reading from the Bible. Today [this evening, 06-11-04]
my thoughts were drawn to the Bible.
John
Chapter Six
is a long chapter in the New Testament of the Bible.
Do
you need discernment when reading God's word? I am of the firm belief
that the Holy Spirit will and can speak to your heart while you earnestly try
to comprehend the meaning or admonition given from the Bible. Indeed,
there are mysteries in Scripture that may not be fully comprehended.
However, God provided an understanding for the "Mystery of
Discernment" that comes when your heart is enlightened through the Holy
spirit.
John
Chapter Six tells of the miracle of the
five barley loaves and two small fishes that fed a multitude of people. Verse
27 tells us that Jesus desired the
people to seek after the spiritual meat that never perishes.
The
people asked Jesus [Verse 28]
what they may do to work the works of God. Verse
29 tells us: ".
. . This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath
sent."
Jesus
told the people that Moses did not give that bread from heaven, but that the
Father gave the true bread [Jesus] from heaven [Verse
32]. The true bread [Verse
33] came from heaven and gives life to
the world.
JESUS
said: "It is THE SPIRIT THAT QUICKENETH; THE FLESH PROFITETH
NOTHING: THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, THEY ARE SPIRIT, AND THEY ARE
LIFE." [John 6:63]

Father
in heaven, let me walk through this life on earth as a shining
example because it is Jesus that shows me the way to heaven.
Allow the Holy Spirit to make the right discernment in my day-to-day
life so that Your love and grace, O Lord, be reflected in the
choices that are pleasing to You. Father, forgive me when my
choices do not line up to Your will. I do thank You, Lord,
that You care deeply for my heart and soul that desires to seek Your
Favor and Directions in all that I do.
Love,
a Child of the most High God!

The
June 7, 2004 Billy Graham.Org update had a quotation by the Rev. Billy
Graham. The quote stated: "We may have wealth, success, and
prestige -- but we have a problem that only God can fix." B.G.

Quotation
by Johanna: "What a privilege to serve the King of kings -
Christ Jesus - and knowing that Almighty God sees the deeds of the great
and small, the powerful and the weak; and that Heaven belongs to those
that accept Jesus [John 3:16].
